https://youtu.be/sM6YgqUWqFs?si=S9a0iaPfPCIKftsM Aged under ice? At the bottom of the lake? That’s right! This beer’s been chillin’ (literally) in icy darkness beneath the surface of Lake of the Woods. Every fall before freeze-up, we “deep six” bottles of a small-batch, handcrafted beer at the bottom of the lake. Each one is secured in anchored cages below the ice line, where it spends six months aging in near-perfect conditions – 4 to 10°C, gently rocked by the current. When spring rolls around, we haul them back up and the result is something truly special: a beer that’s smooth, coooool, and one-of-a-kind. Water,…
The Thistles 1907 Stanley Cup win; the 1973 CIBC bank robbery; the momentous 2013 reopening of Lake of the Woods Brewing Co.: all three landmark (& strangely unrelated) events, that have helped put our little town of Kenora ‘on the map’ (insert wink here). Dead Man’s Switch – a hazy NEIPA hop bomb loaded with enough Citra & Amarillo to stuff a getaway car twice over – this brew immortalizes the surreal & film-esque Kenora Main St. bank robbery; the only such event in history that actually shut down the Trans-Canada Hwy. for a day. Best consumed while doing laundry. DEAD MANS SWITCH…
