If you’ve spent more than five minutes around the brewery, you know two things about us: We love a good pint, and we really love giving back, especially when it involves four-legged pals. That’s why we’re so proud to introduce The Leo Project as one of our 2026 Charity Pints partners. They’re doing some truly incredible work, and honestly… it’s the kind of stuff that sticks with you.
How We’re Supporting The Leo Project
Giving back has always been part of our DNA, and our Charity Pints Program is one of our favourite ways to turn good beer into good things. In both our Kenora & Winnipeg taprooms, we will be donating $0.25 from each featured pint sold throughout 2026. The featured pint changes monthly, giving you something new to sip on to support local causes. Now that’s something to raise a glass to!
So, who is The Leo Project?
At its core, The Leo Project believes something we fully agree with: financial hardship should never be the reason a pet goes without veterinary care.
Their mission is simple but powerful: To bridge the gap in pet healthcare by funding essential veterinary services for individuals and families facing financial challenges. When life throws curveballs (and vet bills show up at the worst possible time), The Leo Project steps in to help make sure pets get the care they need, when they need it most.
What they do (and it’s a lot!)
Through a compassionate, community-driven approach, The Leo Project provides:
- Subsidized veterinary care, including vaccinations, spay & neuter services, emergency treatment, and preventative care
- Mobile veterinary clinics that reach remote and underserved communities
- Community outreach and education programs focused on responsible pet ownership and public health
- Strategic partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and healthcare providers to expand access to care
- Emergency support for pet owners facing crisis situations
In short: they meet people where they’re at, and they show up when it matters most.
How their support works
The LEO Project operates through a trusted network of community partners. When possible, clients and patients are referred directly to them through these partners. If a referral isn’t an option, eligibility is determined based on financial need and urgency of care, assessed at the time of the veterinary appointment.
Typically, The Leo Project subsidizes 70% of the veterinary visit, with the potential to cover up to 100% in specific cases. That support can be the difference between delay and treatment, and in many cases, between heartbreak and a happy ending.
Their partners currently include: The Kenora Cat Shelter, Kenora Association for Community Living, Kenora District Services Board, Canadian Mental Health Association (Fort Frances Branch), Lake of the Woods District Hospital (Mental Health & Addictions Program), The Kenora Youth Hub, The Kenora Fellowship Centre & the Northwestern Health Unit.
Powered by compassion (and community)
What really stands out to us is the people behind the program. The Leo Project team is united by a deep compassion for animals and an unwavering commitment to real, meaningful change. They’re driven by a shared vision of accessible veterinary care for all, and they’re actively breaking down the barriers that prevent pets and their families from getting the help they need. This work doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of community support.
Want to support The Leo Project?
There are lots of ways to get involved and make an impact: Whether you’d like to donate, volunteer, spread the word, or simply enjoy a beer. Anything can help make a lasting impact.
- Sponsorship packages help fund veterinary services for individuals and families facing financial hardship. You can read more here!
- One-time donations, weekly donations or monthly contributions go directly toward essential care and outreach programs, click here!
- The BLASTO Program (yep, give that a look!) is another impactful way to support their mission (and get this program named after you and/or your company!)
- The Animal Legacy Fund uses your donation in memory of a pet that you, or someone you love has lost. This honours their name, and the impact of knowing their beloved pets’ memory has contributed to the well-being of animals in our community.
- Supply donations help stretch resources even further
- Volunteer! You can help in a variety of ways, from assisting at events and supporting community outreach, to helping behind the scenes with administrative tasks. No matter the role, your time directly impacts the lives of animals in need.
Bring the tissues: Success stories ahead
If you’re anything like us, you’ll want to set aside a minute to read through some of The Leo Project’s success stories. They’re the kind that tug at the heartstrings, and remind you why this work matters so much. Every story shared, every donation made, and every pint poured helps create more happy endings.
We’re honoured to support The Leo Project through our 2026 Charity Pints Program, and we’re excited to raise a glass (or two) to the incredible work they do!
