Spring has officially entered the building… which means it’s just about time to roll up the sleeves and get after another Earth Day Community Cleanup.
We kicked this whole thing off back in 2023 with a pretty simple idea: get our staff and our community outside together, do something good, and show a little love to the streets of Kenora. Nothing fancy. Just fresh air, good people, and a shared goal of making our hometown look its best. Fast forward a few years, and thanks to the unreal turnout (seriously, you folks show up), we’ve been lucky enough to turn this into an annual tradition.
Every spring around Earth Day, we gather up a crew and spread out across town. Neighbourhoods, side streets, trails, shorelines, those random spots you drive past and think “yeah… that could use a little TLC.” Just pick your patch and get to work. 💪🏻
Of course, we’re not doing this alone. We’ve had some awesome people backing us year after year:
- Tourism Kenora hooking us up with garbage pickers and bags
- Northwestern Health Unit providing needle kits for safe cleanup
- Northern Waste & Hauling coming through with a dumpster
- Westland Insurance giving us a spot to park it
- YOU! The volunteers, the folks who show up ready to make a difference (and earn a couple well-deserved brews after).
At the end of the day, that’s really what this is all about. Getting outside after a long winter, soaking up that spring air, and giving a little back to the place we all call home.
