About the Underdogs and their History
Underdogs are a locally owned sports bar on Portage Ave that’s been proudly serving the community since 2016. While sports are at the heart of what they do, they’ve grown into much more than just a game-day destination. They’re a place where people come together for great drinks, great food, and even better company! They also offer catering, arcade games, and they regularly host community-focused events.
Underdogs opened their doors in 2016 with the goal of being a neighbourhood sports bar that felt like home. Over the years, they’ve grown alongside their community, expanding our event offerings and finding new ways to bring people together. From adding live music and fundraisers to introducing salsa nights and karaoke, they’ve evolved while staying true to what made Underdogs special from the start – a strong sense of community and a love for good times.
WHAT WILL YOU FIND AT UNDERDOGS
Underdogs is built around fun, energy, and community. Along with being a go-to sports bar, they’ve made interactive entertainment a big focus. Guests can jump between two pool tables, a ping pong table, multiple pinball machines, and a variety of arcade games, making it just as much about playing as it is about watching. Add in their packed event calendar and friendly staff, and it’s a place where people stay longer than they planned, in the best way possible.
There’s never a quiet night at Underdogs, and they like it that way. Their team brings the energy whether it’s rallying the crowd during a Jets Whiteout game, hyping up Trivia competitors, or turning a random weeknight into a full on party. They don’t just host events, they jump right into them. Between spontaneous celebrations, friendly trash talk over games, and staff who genuinely love what they do, Underdogs feels less like a bar, and more like a place when fun is mandatory.
WHAT’S POURING
Underdog proudly features Lake of the Woods Brewing Co. on tap, including Lakeside Kölsch, which is part of their daily happy hour and a consistent crowd favourite. During the winter months, they also pour Nautical Disaster, which pairs perfectly with colder weather and game days.
Seasonality is important to them, so come spring, they do a tap switch-up with Lake of the Woods to keep things fresh and aligned with the season. With an array of 30+ beers on tap they have something tapped for everyone!
WHAT TO EAT
Their Wing Night on Tuesdays and Thursdays are a crowd favourite and has become a bit of a tradition for many of their regulars. The daily happy hour is also hugely popular, with drinks and food starting at just $4! Trivia Wednesdays bring out the competitive teams week after week, and guests consistently rave about the fun, social energy those nights create. You can’t forget their homemade Thicc Mozza Sticks!
EVENTS, SPECIALS & GOOD TIMES AHEAD
There’s lots happening. Karaoke officially launches on January 30th at 8pm, starting right after a live performance by Stephanie Bell. They’re also hosting a Friends-themed Trivia Night on Monday, January 26!
Looking ahead, they’re gearing up for a massive Super Bowl party on February 8, one of their most anticipated events of the year, and they’re always planning new themed nights, giveaways, and seasonal events.
